The 4th of July is a great time to celebrate the birthday of our country and the science of chemistry. All the different colors that you see in the fireworks displays are possible because of chemists mixing elements and compounds together. The American Chemical Society has some great ideas all dealing with the chemistry of fireworks It is so amazing how different combinations of our roughly 120 elements can make something so beautiful.
