Description
If you are looking for a fun and engaging winter science genetic Punnett squares project to do before or after the holidays, then stop your searching and look no further. In these two heredity activities, students will practice and apply their knowledge of phenotypes, genotypes, and Punnett squares to create a snowman family and an edible gingerbread man.
This lesson includes:
- Paper and digital version of the Punnett square build a snowman family activity
- Paper and digital version of the identify genotypes and phenotypes gingerbread man activity
- Teacher instructions for each activity including what is needed for the gingerbread man cookies
- Answer key for the activities

In the first activity students have to use the traits of Mr. and Mrs. Snowman to create their snowman family using their knowledge of Punnett squares, genotypes, phenotypes, complete dominance, and incomplete dominance. In the second activity, students use coins to determine the traits of their gingerbread man, and then they use those traits to create their own gingerbread man cookie or paper cut out.
